Cataclysm: The Newest World of Warcraft Expansion

Set to be released December 7, 2010, fans of the World of Warcraft series are excited for one of the most anticipated expansions released in the series. It is promised to have ground-breaking (literally) changes. Aside from the numerous changes I will eventually touch-base on, I will also include my personal experience in the game both Pre-Cataclysm and Post-Cataclysm. Enjoy the blog!

Elemental Invasions

Every two hours elementals attack the capital cities: Orgrimmar, Stormwind, Thunder Bluff, and Ironforge. Players must clear the cities of all elemental rifts. During these invasions, flight paths are disabled, auctioneers disappear, and most of the vendors and trainers have fled. Unless you are of high-level and want to participate, you have to wait until its over. If your faction gets rid of the elementals first, two bosses are unlocked to queue for at the end of the event. However this effect wears off 30 minutes after you win. The event is very exciting and brings raiding to capital cities.

World of Warcraft Cataclysm: The Cinematic

With more than 6 million views on YouTube, this cinematic is by far the best as far as graphics are concerned. My favorite aspect of it was the detail of the earthquakes. However, I think the previous cinematics, specifically Wrath of the Lich King, were a little cooler. But that's just my opinion.
Enjoy!

Doomsayer in Stormwind

Here is a doomsayer from the doomsday cult. What he does is pretty self-explanatory. This one is in Stormwind.

Major Changes

IN SHORT:

Hunters can have pets at level 1.

Blood is the new tanking spec for the Death Knight.

Paladins now have multi-target healing abilities.

Ammo has been removed from the game.

A new system called Reforging is now availiable for players to opt stats on gear.

A stat called Mastery has been added. Each spec of each class has a different mastery effect.

Everyone now has the same gear durability no matter if you wear cloth or plate.

Doomsday in Orgrimmar and Stormwind

This is one of the major features in patch 4.01. Besides the fact that the earth near Orgrimmar and Stormwind rumbling occasionally, a Doomsday cult has formed in both of the cities. The cult has targeted the civilians and has convinced the majority that it is the end of the world for Azeroth. Alliance/Horde officials tell you to investigate this newly formed cult. Thus the massive series of chain quests begin.
